FAQ
Plurality
What is "plural"
Plurality is an umbrella term for the vast amount of experiences of having two or more person living in one body, sharing one mind.
People are quick to point out DID as one such example, though this is not the only type of experience of plurality out there.
What's a Plural System?
A system is just a cute name for how everyone's brain operates. Everyone is a system. Plural systems just have the added plural experience.
Do you have DID?
Unclear! A lot of it seems similar, but according to some of the criteria in the DSM-V (which is what'd be used in the US to diagnose us by a clinical professional):
B. Recurrent gaps in the recall of everyday events, important personal information, and/or traumatic events that are inconsistent with ordinary forgetting.
We've not really had issues with this outside of what is explainable by normal ADHD forgetfulness. There may be some amnesia from early in life, but hard to separate this from just ordinary loss of childhood memory.
AND
C. The symptoms cause clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important areas of functioning.
It's not been really all that distressing or impairing to us. It's not free of issues, but not to the level that it feels like it'd qualify for a disorder.
We have experienced a great deal of dissociation all through out life as well. Lots of events of depersonization and derealization that still persist into adulthood. This part has been distressing but that doesn't really fit into the conversation here.
Finally, seeking an official diagnosis isn't a top priority. The process, at least in the US, can take several years which feels like a huge investment of time and money for something that's not even that disruptive.

Are you Irish?
Umm.. yes and no? Irish blood, not born. Born and grew up in the US. Why the accent?! NO IDEA! I sound like this in the head, and when I speak it comes out that way. I have asked mental health professionals before and I guess it's not exactly clear why this happens??
Before streaming, I was bothered by my voice.
